Lux-Pain is set in the historical Kisaragi City, a town plagued by mysteries from small mishaps to murders – with no logical explanation as to why these events occur. It seems “Silent”, a worm born through hate and sadness, has infected humans and forced them to commit atrocious crimes. The heroes’ parents, Atsuki, are the victim of such crimes. To avenge his parents, Atsuki goes through a dangerous operation to acquire Lux-Pain in his left arm, a power so strong that it turns his right eye golden when using it to seek and destroy Silent for good.

An interesting game, cute characters, cute design of the secret base….there’s just oneeeeee particular problem: The voice overs and sub titles don’t add up.
Example:
Voice: “We should arrest you for being out so late.”
Subtitle: “You’re going to get in trouble being out this late.”
Example 2:
Voice: “Awwww, I really wanted to go to America.”
Subtitle: “Awww, I wanted to visit Akiba and Kyoto.”
It’s like the voiceover team got the localized version of the script, but the subtitle team didn’t.
That’s pretty much what happened; there was a disconnect between the teams. I remember talk of this back when the game was new.
Still, this game was a lot of fun. (I have the actual thing on DS). The only downside was that the story got a little shaky towards the end; they didn’t elaborate on a few things enough so I felt a bit out of the loop. Perhaps the creators ran out of time, lol. There’s a lot of nifty extra scenes you can unlock too, that let you see more of the characters, that you watch separately from the main game.
