Higurashi When They Cry Hou - Ch.2 Watanagashi

The 58th year of Shouwa, early summer It’s June, and the summer heat has arrived earlier than it does most years. By day there are crickets, and by night there are cicadas.

We’re in Hinamizawa, a small village in the countryside. There are fewer than two thousand people here. But every year, there is an event.

This event is a mysterious death.

On a certain day in June, someone dies, and someone else goes missing. The series of deaths is connected to the upheaval surrounding the dam construction project. A murder case that was covered up is being reenacted. Is it a conspiracy? A coincidence? Or perhaps a curse?
Someone who was supposed to be there isn’t. Someone who wasn’t supposed to be there is.

Someone who was alive last night is dead now. And someone who is here right now isn’t alive.

So, there is no way to avert tragedy. There is no choice but to give up.
But don’t give up.

Only you can stand up to this.

This series is pretty good, if you're fan of supernatural, mysteries, and uninteractive VN doesn't bother you, then you should give it a try.

It's a sound novel, definitely worth checking out. It got a legitimate stateside release through Steam, though I think these are with the art updates.

Try it, if you like it, buy it. Then go read Umineko no naku koro ni, which is also amazing.

Excuse my ignorance, but what is the relation with this game and the anime? Is a spin off, continuation or a sequel?

Game was first, anime and manga was maked from game. First game series is already translated (Higurashi – When They Cry) and this game (and first Higurashi When They Cry Hou – Ch.1 Onikakushi) is "only" re-release on a new engine (Unity engine) with updated art and a complete re-translation.

I really wish I had not watched the anime many years ago. Oh, the folly of youth. These kinds of visual novels lose all impact when you know what's around the next corner :(

This is a good game, but I will have to pass on it. I would highly recommend it to anybody who has not spoiled themselves on the anime.

Are the Higurashi Novels still worth it even though I have seen the hole anime ? Because I really enjoyed the Umineko VN.

I'd still recommend them, there's stuff left out of the anime like the TIPS that provide more information about the world. Obviously, it won't be the same as if you had read them first since you know what's coming, but there's also some fun in seeing the foreshadowing and various hints about what's going on that you might have missed. Also, the atmosphere and sounds in the novel are great.

Has anyone given you Divine Slice of Life - Adult Version and Go! Go! Nippon - 2015 Version yet? Highschool Romance is also coming out tomorrow. All of these are on MangaGamer.

Also, just a heads up. Something seems to be wrong with the captcha while using the Firefox internet browser. Nothing displays except for a purple box with the Your Answer text box in the bottom-left corner of the purple box. I am able to use Internet Explorer to post this comment though, so it might just be Firefox. I would have posted this heads up in the forums, but I don't have an account there. This might just be a temporary error with Firefox though.

Does anybody know if there's a way to add voice acting from the PS2 version to this? I think it sucks that MangaGamer didn't license the versions with voice acting.
