Higurashi When They Cry Ch.5 Meakashi

June, 1983.

The summer heat has arrived earlier than it does most years.
By day there are cicadas, and by night, the higurashi.

Hinamizawa, a small village in the Japanese countryside.
While there are fewer than two thousand people there, every year, ‘something’ happens.

For the past 4 years, someone has died, and someone else has gone missing.
This series of deaths and disappearances is connected to the local resistance against a now-abandoned dam construction project.
A murder during the construction, covered up by the local authorities, is being re-enacted year after year.
Is it a conspiracy? A coincidence? Or perhaps a curse?

Someone who was supposed to be there… isn’t.
Someone who wasn’t supposed to be there… is.

Someone who was alive last night is now dead, and someone who is here right now isn’t alive.

There is no way to avert this tragedy. There is no choice but to give up trying.

But even so… please don’t give up.

Honestly after playing these this is a rare case where i have to say withot a doubt just watch the anime it makes much better use of EVERYTHING, the art is nicer, everything is done with feeling and is a great example of the rare case where the adaptation doesn't flop or just live up to the original but overshadows it in quality.

Sure, if you're fine with forgoing listening to all of dai's BGMs in Higurashi, honestly one of the best experiences of playing a VN imo. And as a counterargument to your 'anime has better art and feelings', the VN (it's telling that you haven't read it to the end :P) delves MUCH more into the depths of each character's thought processes and inner conflicts which are otherwise not explained properly, or shoved aside entirely in exchange for gratuitous gore and denpa, in the anime adaptation.

Seriously, just read it. Much better to read the original than the anime version (more so if you've already watched the anime 'cause some of the stuffs in the VN isn't in the anime) that despite its own set of well-chosen soundtracks and character models feeds on virality of crazy faces and knife stabbing scenes.

After watching the anime as well as playing all the chapters of the vn, I have to say the vn is much better. It has a depth which the anime was unable to produce. Even without voices and animated scenes the vn was able to surpass the anime(my opinion). But that doesn't mean the anime was bad. It was good but not as good as the vn.

the Vn is way way better than the anime. Yes the anime has better art but the ost is better and the story is more complete.

Now hol' up. I just downloaded part 2 via the free wikia link, and immediately I'm getting notifications about a trojan embedded in the file. Is this some kinda malicious shit or what? I'm interested in Higurashi but if trying to get everything in sequence I get this more often, I'll abandon it and just look up the 250 hour video playlist of it.

Removing the trojan and continuing onward.
