Men at Work! 2

A Hunter Academy was established to teach Monster Hunters.
Cliff came to the academy to become a Hunter,
but the place turns out to be an old building unlike its name suggests,
and the great Hunter couple who was supposed to teach him leaves the Academy to go solve an incident in another town.
The Hunter candidates are all girls except for Cliff.
And after many turns of events, Cliff is placed in charge of the Academy and gets to stay with all the girls…

can't figure this one out...after i extract the files there is like nothing that can be done except run the patch installer but then it says to insert a disc thats not there so not sure what to do

1. Set locale to japanese.
2. Extract the archive (while in japanese locale - otherwise filenames will be messed up)
3. Run "setup.exe"
4. Install the game
5. Run english patch installer
6. ??
7. Profit!

thanks,got it to work. though just to say for future readers that after installing the game if you have Vista have to make the patch run in XP but after that it works as is

patch has to be run in xp for all systems above xp for it to work because the patch doesn't recognize vista or windows 7. Thank you very much for the game and patch.
by the way the choices you can select in the prologue appear blank anyone know why? or rather how to solve this?

sir admin why when i cant set the language to japanese locale... i follow your instructions and then it said that i need to insert my SP2 window EP and then some file are not found... and sir admin why when i run the english patch it says i nid to enter the men at work 3 or 4 to run the patch??? hope u answer my post tnx... and if anything u can help or can u pass or mail me some software i nid to so i can play the visual novels i DL on your site... tnx a lot admin...

Having the same problem, it is not asking for a windows cd. But a Men At work cd/dvd.

I've changed to japanese locale before, infact this computer always i set to japanese locale.

from what I can tell unless you have an original cd, or IMG file or similar fordaemon it wn't work. But confused since it seems others here got it to work.

Admin, I've installed this game and got it running fine but I have been unable to run the English patch I tell it to run as administrator and in windows XP compatibility mode and I've tried it in a few different folders but I'm still getting the same message asking for the Japanese game disc and to insert MaW 3 or MaW 4 special edition and give it the full path to it, I'm unsure what to do I've tried everything I can think of so if you can help it would be appreciated.

admin, i have set locale to japanese, extracted the files, then when i run setup.exe, a screen comes up saying, "Error reading setup initialization file" and nothing else.

If I don't set the locale to japanese, setup.exe runs, but all characters come out all weird and unreadable and then it just closes.

what else can i try to fix this kind of problem?

I had a similar problem, excepting that setup wouldn't run at all regardless of whether language was set to nihongo or not.

I found a work around though. Rather than running the setup.exe I manually extracted the .cab files using 7zip, then following the same file folder layout that studio e-go! used for cfr2 I created subfolders named SAVE, Movie, and Music. Then I copied the SavXX.dat files to SAVE, the .avi files to Movie, and the .wav files to Music. Finally, I ran the patch as instructed treating the folder I manually extracted to as the installation folder.

This seems to be working fine thus far, I'm a little ways into the story without having encountered errors and saving/loading are working.

When I try to run the english patch, it prompts me for the location of the japanese dvd, not sure what I'm supposed to do here.

To run the english patch correctly, you have to choose the destination file when prompted. So when you run the patch the file path initially is set to the desktop so you have to manually change that path to where ever you installed the game. So find the installation file and if done correctly, you by pass the prompt for the dvd.

I need help! It an in-game issue, not an installation issue. *Spoiler* When i am in chapter two and i am about to go fight the first ghosts in the dungeon(mission titled "Party at the Graveyard") my play screen goes completely black. I cannot see a thing and i don't know what my characters are doing. the game is still responding but i cant seem to see the screen. i thought it was the brightness so i messed with that. No luck. if anyone knows what is wrong please reply. Any help is much appreciated.

First you've gotta put all downlaoded files to a Men At Work 2 folder .. Then move to Drive D .. Then follow these steps ..

1. Set locale to Japanese

2. Extract downloaded rars ..

3. Extract Data1.cab and Data11.cab

4. Make 3 subfolders .. Name them SAVE .. Music and Movie ..

5. Move .avi files to Movie ..

6. Move .wav files to Music ..

7. Move .dat files to SAVE .. WAIT .. Leave game00.dat, game01.dat, game02.dat files alone .. They're okay where they are ..

8. Right click on English patch ( Men_at_Work_2_English_v1.0.exe ) and open properties ..

9. Click on compatibility tab and select " Change settings for all users ..

10. Put a check on the lowest box ..

11. Right click on english patch and press Troubleshoot compatibility ..

12. Click next and select Troubleshoot program .. Check 1st and 3rd boxes ( The prgram worked in earlier versions etc. and The program requires additional permissions ) ..

13. Select Windows XP ( Service Pack 2 ) .. Clcik " Next " then select " Start the Program " .. A user account control message should appear .. Click " Yes " ..

14. The patcher should appear ..
Click " Next " ..
Put a check on the only box you'll find ..
Put check on Subtitled OP if you want ..
Click " Next " ..
Click " Browse " then search for the folder you've been working in all this time .. You'll know what to do after that ..

That did the trick for me .. It didn't ask for the original disk .. Oh and a maw2-enlish.exe should appear on the folder ( replacing it's Japanese predecessor ..
