You can download from hotfile then. I can's just hotlink it from main page, since game is rather big and judging from amount of visits I'd use monthly bandwidth in one day.

Try to run setup as administrator, if it won't help then maybe it's some problem with multi-threaded installer - try to run it disabling all cpu cores, but one.
If this won't help then you can try disabling your antivirus, or maybe opposite - maybe some virus is corrupting installation files.
If all of this won't help then i have no idea - as I said - installation runs without problems for everyone i know.

I played till the end of chapter 3 (Chihiro/Renji), but now the game always crashes at the same point.
The scene where Yuuko meets Miki. Last i can read is "However, this was certainly the beginning". After this the game simply shuts down. :-(

Whenever the choices come up on screen they are displayed in symbols. All the other ingame text displays correctly so I'm at a lose here. Can anyone help me please?

Help! I installed the game fine. But it keeps crashing when I start it. Windows XP. GMT +9 enabled. Jap language set. Anything else I should do?

Recently installed this with no problems. But I when I started playing it again the next day I skipped a part and then there was no sound. So I thought maybe if I uninstalled and reinstalled it would work fine but it hasn't worked.

I discovered the reason many of you are having issues after you get the game installed at various points in the game.

This game requires you to install a x264 codec on your system. Oddly enough the codec isn't used for all media. It doesn't kick in to around chapter 3 where the first video is played. Also some of the background music (but NOT all) appears to be x264 compressed.

Also if you have any codec packs installed that might fudge it up as well. The "shark codec settings manager" helped me get things going.

I have download the 6 pack from hotfiles (no survey for my country ) and when I extract them I get the same error:

That error is caused by NNL's "auto-update" feature - this is fan translation, but recently people responsible for it came to agreement with game producer and ef will recieve official english version - as a result NNL removed auto-update scripts from their server. You can ignore it, since it doesn't affect gameplay, or you can install the game again, but this time uncheck "auto-update" box during installation.

I have completed the download and the installment. It all works fine. Except, when I already played it no words coming. Only their voices. Can you please help me here?

its strange, the survey link takes me to a facebook customization page, but no actual survey. If you expect me to download something off some page though, you are sadly mistaken, as I will use the hotfile links rather than risking my pc's safety

I can't get the BGM to work no matter what i try. I know someone was talking about x264 earlier but i didn't quite get what they meant.

soo... i just finished this game this morning (after finally submerging my urge to kill this guy on the grounds that it's physicall impossible to kill a game character..) and i noticed that even though i finished it, and then just in case, finished all the bad endings.... there was no extra/recall/etc option in the main menu.... is this normal or was there something wrong with my game?

Hey on the first choice there appears two choices with some letters not english, japanese, or russian. What does these characters mean? One is a box, another like a sun giving light next to a triangle, a couple of circles, one little another big... what's that language? Help!

I'm having problems. I unziped it but all the file had was a .cnd and install file. When i try to run the Exe I get a program isn't responding message.

i've got a solution but not everybody wil be able to use it.
I was playing on a mac on bootcamp before. When i tried to play it on the mac via parallel desktop the sound was there.

If like me you're on Win 7 64 bits, the sound problem can be fixed by moving the ef folder from Programe Files x86. Apparently, DirectSound problems can appear if it's not directly in C:\

I don't know why though nor I know if it'll work with another OS.

YES!! I finally figured out why the game kept crashing halfway through - right the end of Kei arc. For those who have MPC HC and LAV filters, you need to go back and reinstall ffdshow, or the game will crash when it tries to play the movie.

Just in case anyone else was getting very frustrated like i was. now..on to the latter tale

It said when I installed it didn't detect ffdshow on my computer, but I definitely am using it, well I'm using the MadVR codec with MPC-HC, which is ffdshow-based. I should be right for the sequences in this right, because I didn't see any "video" when I started a new game.

When I tried to install, during installation, I end up with an error:

An external program did not run correctly. Program: rezip

For those with the no music issues... Assuming that the game is a disc image once extracted (I don't know becuz I haven't downloaded it) but if it is after you've installed explore the disc and find the file for the BGM and manually copy it to the game directory to see if it fixes it. I had a similar no music issue with another game and doing this fixed the problem

Download and installation worked without any problems and the game itself runs just fine, even with music, however I have one issue that makes it unplayable to some degree.
Right from the beginning there is some pretty loud background noise/static looping 2-3 times a second which is very very annoying. Fiddling around with the audio options didn't help in any way and i cant figure out the source of the noise. I am running Windows 7 with CCCP and (perhaps thats the reason) a Asus Xonar DX sound card.
Is anyone else experiencing the same issue? I would really appreciate some help here as i was really looking forward to the game and everything else i downloaded works just fine. So on that note, big thanks to the Admin here :)

For those with "no music" issues, I'll reiterate what someone has already said:
There is no music in the menu or during the first few minutes of the game. If you can hear the test music in options, you'll likely hear music where you're supposed to.

If you are having problems with the voices, apart from suggestions by other people in this page, try putting ur Ef directory directly under the C drive (C:\ef)

This game is just ef - the first tale and ef - the latter tale combined into one, right? So why are the downloads for the other two games on this site so large compared to this one? Did the Mangagamer versions add something?

I installed this game at D directory and it works, I don't have any problem about Music Voice BGM or SFX
There is no music on the main menu and for a few minute at the first of game, so keep playing for a while.
You can test sound in option menu, if it work, you shouldn't have a problem
