Musicus!

Musicus!

Kei used to attend a famous high school with aspirations of one day becoming a doctor like his parents, but he stopped for a term due to certain reasons and is now studying part-time. While his journey had become more difficult, it was still possible to get back on track. However, after meeting many different types of people that he had not previously encountered and realizing that there was so much in the world that he did not know, he began to question what future he truly desired.

After receiving a prize from a city-wide competition for a short story that he wrote, he was asked by Yagihara, the president of a music production, to accompany their band on their upcoming tour and write a report about the event. The band was Kachoufuugetsu, which once performed on the big stage. Its leader Korekiyo is quite a peculiar fellow and talked at length about how music was pointless and good for nothing. Even though Kei was perplexed about Korekiyo, he was taken away by the band’s music when he heard it for the first time.

A few days later after that memorable first live, Kei found out that they were disbanding. Unable to accept the sudden news, he approached Korekiyo many times to convince him to change his mind, but no argument could sway him. Instead, Korekiyo asked him:

“How about you play rock in my place?”

  1. Another music VN from the company who made Kira Kira and Deardrops? Sign me up!

  2. walked right into the bad end.
But even though it was pretty grim i found it to be a pretty fitting end (could have skipped the added external circumstances) and enjoyed reading it. The credit screen really did a number on me though.
Time to read the good endings now.
Def consider buying this one guys. It’s one of the rare good ones.
I’d like to see VN companies switch over to crowdfunding instead of these unprotected releases. I think i’d give more support that way. (although it’s nice not having to spend money to see a game being utter trash like most vns)

    1. That route is peak Setoguchi Renya. He’s great at depicting these somber scenarios, and honestly they’re way more interesting than typical happy endings and it shows in the effort put into them. If it appeals to you, you should check out Swan Song.

  3. Cool – I was surprised this appeared so quickly after the game was released last week.

I purchased this – in fact pre-ordered it… even VNDB, et al, rate the game very highly. Yeah – it’s a full-on, “real” VN – not just eroge – in fact the “low-content” tag is included (I’ve seen it a number of times where I thought the H was just fine, so…).

If you like these – give something back by purchasing it, seriously. So many companies, some of them even with a lot of promise, just never get profitable. Where we can, we really ought to support. Just sayin.. Cheers.

  4. Admin, can you please, please, please upload the Windows version of Aoi Namida? I can’t find it anywhere.

  5. Just finished the game, and it was a powerful read for me. Not your traditional visual novel where the protagonist falls in love with each heroine and lives happily every after, the VN is about the protagonists relationship with music, and the different paths he takes to understand what it truly means.

Most people probably want the traditional experience, and may be put off by the title if they aren’t into music all that much, but this VN does such a great job of putting you into the shoes of a struggling up and coming artist, that you’re immediately immersed into the world, and the characters that inhabit it.

Solely throwing this game aside because it won’t provide your traditional VN experience is a terrible mistake to make. This game has a whole lot to offer, and a lot of things people are saying about it come from a point of ignorance, where they’re just parroting what they heard somewhere else.

There is no NTR, no drama with previous partners, nothing of that sort, I see those terms thrown around a lot when describing this game, but those comments only come from people who either haven’t played it, or have just skimmed the surface of what this great VN is really all about.

    9/10, fantastic read.

  6. Personally this game left a bad overall impression. The game hijacks the MC’s decisionmaking from you in a way that is not consistent or makes any sense.
In order for MC to fall in love with Ozaki, you have to give up on all your dreams as a musician. You don’t have a choice.

The Childhood friend arc from MC’s past does not lead to anything either, it’s just there to give you some Netorare’ish feelings of having your best friend be impregnated by a scumbag.

Meguru’s route, despite being a significantly more compelling bonding experience than Ozaki’s route leads to a drunken one night stand that does not go anywhere. Neither of you develop any feelings.

Did not bother to check whether the true route was good or not from that point.

    1. Could you not spoil everything in a single comment? Just because your expectations were betrayed, and this wasn’t your traditional lovey-dovey VN where all the protagonist and heroines always shack up, doesn’t mean it’s not a fantastic game. The games routes are about the protagonists relationship with music, not solely the girls. The VN is a powerful read, and if you can’t understand that because you wanted something else, gives you no right to spoil and disparage the game for everyone in the comments.

    2. Also, there is no “childhood friend arc” She’s not a heroine, or even a main character, just a medium to show an aspect of the protagonist personality and beliefs, if you actually took the time to understand what you read, you would this, your comment is full of biased opinions that only serve to turn people off from the game, and I don’t that you should be the one to make that choice for them.

  7. Hey Admin, “Josou Sanmyaku” English version was just released the other day, will it be uploaded soon? Thanks!

  8. Another VN in the same vien as Kira Kira and Deardrops? fuck yea, haven’t been this excited for a VN in a long time!

  9. okay i’m gonna have to buy this one.
    Thanks for the upload.
Haven’t gotten that deep into it but it’s great. Intense focus on a good main story, pretty grim, an authentic theme (love the character of Korekiyo, has a very morrison-like outlook on music, but in a more relatable way), has it’s clichés but manages to make them fit.
VN that, so far, seems to focus on a story to tell and approaches the different love interests as alternative routes to deal with life. At least it feels like it will go this way (as said not that deep into it yet).

  10. an adult protagonist??? a story centered around a low point in life and finding your way in the world???
No airhead heroines opening up a cafe?
    WHAT YEAR IS IT!?!!?

  11. Whoever finished this first, can you tell me if this a good game worth deleting some other games to download? My computer doesn’t have much space left, so I’d like to know before I try it.

    1. If you like Mikazuki it is really amazing! Her route is one of my favorites in any visual novel ever.

It took me on a music journey, it really felt right, growing with them from a kid, to a kid with a dream, to chasing the dream and all its struggles to adult life with both the good and bad points about it.

There are some dramas that come out of nowhere though, and !!!LIGHT SPOILER AHEAD!!! stuff like the childhood friend that you just see a few times and isn’t impactful in any way. I have no idea why that is there but it doesn’t affect the main plot which kinda is true to life, not everything leads to something, some stuff are just bothersome for no reason.
