Fate/Extra

According to Nasu, Fate/EXTRA is a JRPG which takes place set in an alternate universe that split from the Fate/stay night timeline in the 1980s to 1990s.

The Story is set in the in a school called Tsukumihara Academy, a fictional place existing with an artificial environment called the Moon Cell. There, the Moon Cell orchestrates a replication of the Holy Grail War using a system called Serial Phantasm or SE.RA.PH, which handles the summoning of Servants. Servant data is taken from the Automaton (Moon Cell Automaton), a spiritual computer system built on the lunar surface by a pre-human civilization and discovered by humans in the year 2032.
The Automaton has monitored and recorded all occurrences on the Earth (including the activities of human heroes) since time immemorial. In this sense, it is similar to the Throne of Heroes, but it’s possible to summons beings which aren’t present in the Throne.

Each of the 128 participants in the war must duel the other Masters in a place called the Arena, where failure results in deletion from both the real and digital worlds. When only one remains, the “Holy Grail” shall grant the victor’s wish.

Why do those programmers insist on using slow ass Java. The Playstation 2 emulators run pretty well on my machine and the PSP is more PS1 than PS2 so there is no reason it to run so poorly.

How did you get this game to run on JPCSP? Tells me that it's encrypted by the software publisher, so it can't run it. Did you have to decrypt it? How did you if you did?

PPSSPP would be the best emulator for PSP games. No lag in my core i3 @3.30GHz processor, 4GB RAM, AMD Radeon HD 4950 1GB DDR3 PC and in my core i5-4200U @1.60GHz processor, 4GB RAM, nVIDIA GeForce GT 740M 2GB DDR3 notebook. I also test it in my friend's notebook, which there's really bad spec (and its really take times in booting), and its played really smooth without any lag

It's probably easier to get a PSP off of ebay and softmod (really really easy to do) it and run the game that way. Or just buy the game, I thought it was worth the $20USD I paid for it.

I run the game on JPCSP while in open world and dilouge at 30 fps, actual battle runs normally at 60 fps.

I recommend jpcsp for an emulator. There are options for decrypting the iso which can be turned on easily by going to: options>configuration>Crypto>checking 'extract decrypted eboot.bin to tmp.'

It's pretty easy to use, and I quite like it. Though, to be fair, the low fps isn't too much of a bother to me personally. So if that's a deal breaker for you.....then just buy it& a psp cause no emulators gonna get you the same fps.

I went to options-configuration, but there is no 'Crypto' that I can find, and the emulator gives me messages about them not supporting piracy when I try to load this anyway, are you sure it's doable :( ?

yeah, I had that problem. the solution for me was simply to download another copy of the game somewhere else and use that iso instead.......err...I think the copy on this website might be corrupted

When I first enter the arena and then try to leave, the camera just endlessly spins around my character and servant. The game refuses to progress. A similar thing happens when talking to Saber in the room. The game is stuck on "now loading". Help would be appreciated.

Hey... weren't you on emuz trying to figure out the same thing? There is a guy (Quickjager) who is trying to figure out this problem, because it seems alot of people trying to play the game are hitting the same problem.

I suggest you help him out (if you haven't given up yet) by sending the Devs a log of what happened while this happened

I actually managed to get the game to work, yay :D ! But there’s a problem- right half of the dialogue box seems to cut off for some reason..? Is there a way to fix it?

@Aelthar: This seems to be because the iso is bad. The one that made the file tried to remove stuff to make it smaller, that was clerkly a bad idea.
You can actually get a bit further if you chose caster inted of another servant but it gets stuck after the first week anyway so download another copy somewhere else.

@Rea: Experiment with the Video settings in jpcsp and you should get it to work. I unchecked everything except \Enable saving GE screen to Textures instead of Memory\

this might be pointless but there is a newer psp emulator called ppsspp from what i know of it it is not run by java and is run similarly to ps2 emu's but i'm still at the point of actually playing on it but i got it from the emulator zone and it had a rating of 8.1 out of 10 which is alot higher then jpcsp and well.... that's actually better then the rating for most emulators...

This is not an Eroge, just to be clear.

I managed to buy this game new in the U.K and i'm pretty sure you can download it from PSN. All I am trying to say is that this game is far more accessible to western audiences than most of the games on this site. If you have the means and income, it is good and responsible to support the industry and developers that you care about. I don't like being a preaching scumbag, and i'm not trying to stop the people who want to mess around with emulation, seems like a hassle to me though!

Using jpcsp as my emulator. I'm getting about 8-11 FPS, extremely poor video quality, lag, some still picture scenes are replaced by older scenes, and the save screen. Shows up invisible. Is this normal? Is it because I'm running it on a laptop? Would switching to this ppsspp emulator help?

That's when intro movie starts playing. Your computer probably doesn't have codecs to play the movie - install cccp codec pack to fix it.

Closest us English speaking people will get is the CCC event in GO that happened months ago and will have a revival in 2 years. Unless Type-Moon suddenly starts giving a shit about the western portion of the fanbase (as if) and re-releases Extra. Of course Extra would need to sell like hot cakes to encourage them to translate CCC.

So basically translation never ever.
