Hakuoki: Kyoto Winds

The Bakumatsu period, a gap between the past splendour of the Shogunate era and the modern glamor of the Meiji period, is one of the most violent and intriguing places to start a romance.

Chizuru Yukimura has set off for Kyoto to find her missing father, but accidentally gets herself wrapped up in the intrigues of the Shinsengumi, a group of warriors who defends the fading powers of the shogunate.

The men in Shinsengumi are not merely fighting Emperor Meiji’s forces and the strange demons, they are also hiding a terrible secret. They are hiding something among them.

i downloaded all but when i tried to excute the ''hakuokiwin.exe'' file, it loads and a window pops up saying that it stopped working :(
does anyone have a solution for this problem?

IFI "forgot" to include the .exe file when it launched on steam. Not sure if it's been fixed yet.

they fixed it but there's a new issue where some can't play it since everytime they click on the .exe file a black screen pops up and crashes so yeah.

guys! somehow i fixed it :D i ran the game with my graphic card processor (Nvidia) and that did it!

are you sure you don't have that option? maybe you have a different card processor, try to watch videos on youtube onto find out what card processor your computer has (tutorials to find it out), other than that i don't know what else to advice you since..well i don't really have much knowledge about computer stuff orz

No, that's normal. Only high(er) end laptops have second, discreet graphic card - budget ones usually just have one built into processor, so there's no option to pick which card to use.

It's hard to guess what might cause black screen in user's above case, but first troubleshooting steps would be (re)installing DirectX (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35) and Visual C++ libraries (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=14632 & https://www.microsoft.com/en-in/download/details.aspx?id=5555 ).

Hi! Thx for the replies,,

so i've tried reinstall directx and currently got directx 11 installed (checked on dxdiag)...

As for visual c++ i got 2015,2012,2010,, ???

and driver is KB 2C 9W? (I checked it via device manager)

also my locale is already japan

I dont really understand computer and my laptop is lenovo,,
Win7 2gb ram - 32-bit

And still got a black screen..

,,but i guess i should wait until i get a proper laptop T-T

This is the PC (Steam) version so I decided to take a look at some of the reviews and apparently this is just half of the whole story
(The only reason you would play an otome game is for the story anyway)

I am not really sure if the PSP version (Demon of the fleeting blossom) is the same though since steam reviews did recommend it instead, it should have the full story as it were.
While I assume it is either voiceless or mostly non-voiced so that may be a deal breaker either way.

Bottom line is wait for them to release the second half of the game or just play the PSP version for a (I assume) inferior experience (I will just not be bothering with either)

For the record, it's not false advertising; it does state first part in a two part series on the steam page.
Chusingura still has the record for the worst butchering of a game though (Seriously stay away from that one)

Oh yeah, there's also Nightshade if you are interested in otome.

Demon of the Fleeting Blossom on the PSP is the original game.
Kyoto Winds is the first half of a very long remake that includes new characters and scenes. They are certainly two different games, but Kyoto Winds does reuse content from the PSP games.

I think overall the original game had better direction, but I can't be sure until I play part 2, which isn't in English yet.

There is no sound, voices/bgm/effects, besides the opening movie. I see that there are sound files..but no sound in game.. I have changed settings to all max and still no sound

The other sites have this game for 30 GB or more. This one's pretty small in size so I want to download it. But judging from others' comments, it doesn't look like it works? Can someone please tell me if this works or what should I do in order to make it work?

So I downloaded the files and I tried extracting the first one but it extracts only the contents of the first file. Usually, when I extract the first file it automatically extracts the rest as well so idk what to do. I would appreciate some help.

Hi, I downloaded and the game opens up and works fine, but in the intro right after Hajime and Souji killed the three zombies no lines appeared and the saving parts and everything else doesn't seem to work. I mean, it's kinda working because the music is there and the snow kept falling but no lines or anything appeared to keep the story going.

Please help me, I don't know what I should do about this.
