Nikaidou Tasuku, the protagonist, has looked up to his mother, Chihiro, since he was a boy. But before he knew it, his feelings were no longer merely platonic.
Unable to confess his feelings, he believes it will be enough for things to stay as they were, as long as it means he gets to stay by her side.
However, a sudden incident causes him to undergo a change of heart, and he decides it is better to have loved and lost than never loved at all.
