The game takes place in a fictional world inhabited by Ribika (who look like humans but have cat ears and tails). Their world has fallen into dark times – a mysterious void has made some places (and even animals) impossible to touch, causing major food shortages. A strange and deadly disease that has killed off a large percentage of the female Ribika population is also spreading.
The hero, Konoe, exists in this miserable world, living alone in the starving village of Karou who have turned to cannibalism. The story begins with Konoe in Karou, where he suddenly begins to see horrible dreams and strange marks appear on his body. This is believed to be a curse so Konoe heads off to Ransen (the big city) in order to heal his body…

Now, I'm no social justice warrior, if by that you mean people blogging about what they think is moraly wrong in the gaming industry. I've got my own views on the movement, but that's by the by.
I don't know that much about VN development, I admit, so feel free to correct me but most of them are made in Japan, where female and male genitals have to be censored by law.
I don't know about violence, but this very game, targeted at a female audience, has in fact, some scenes of a violent nature, even mind break and rape. Another game, which I think is by the same company and for the same audience("togainu no chi"), ups that even more.
I'm also fairly sure social justice isn't even an issue Japan concerns itself that much with, just going by the entertainment that's popular there.

Yes, that is a hypocrisy brought by America after the second world war. And one of the reasons why not many visual novels are brought to the West, is that social justice warriors campaign against them for different reasons. Not to mention, the games that do manage to make their way to the market are additionally censored by cutting \questionable\ scenes which is much worse than mosaics on genitals.

I suspect you are new to visual novels. You don t know the story of \If my heart had wings\, where they decided to get rid of any mentioning of sex, which completely butchered one route. So yes, that makes my life worse, since I am unable to enjoy the original plot of the game. Yes, there are bigger problems in the world than me not getting the game I want. The sources I read stated that they changed it to make it \appeal more to the west\, which in my opinion, can be anything from them simply assuming H-scenes with girls that look fairly young won't sell here because they think we're all prudes to them indeed worrying about social justice warriors.

What I take from games like GTAV and Hatred, is that even an outcry about political correctness is good advertisment, depending on who you want to sell your game to.
I've never heard of anyone skipping on a game because \ the media ( be it social or otherwise) said it was too violent or had too many sex scenes\.
If they're worried about there being and outcry about there being sex scenes in the game, then they're trying to sell it to the wrong audience.
H-games are too niche, in my opnion, to get much of an outcry or campaining against. But maybe I've simply not heard about it.
Seems to me, that social justice warriors would be more concerned with complaining about mainstream stuff, watched by a wider audience, like game of thrones.

It was published on erogedownload. You should check the comments here. The publisher thought they would make more money by releasing an all-age butchered version. They avoided a scandal with the SW and could sell their game to an all-aged dempgraphic. However, it ended up as a failure

It really isn't paradoxe. To me it's more a " I'm not racist, but ... " sort of thing.

If you use AD-block, you have to disable it.
I downloaded all the links and used WinRAR to extract them into my :C, then I put it in Program Files x86 and made another folder in there called Nitro + Chiral because that's how it looked in my old laptop. I set the locale language thing to Japanese and turned my laptop off and on too.
But when I clicked the application, the screen for the game was still black, I even kept it open to see if it was just loading. Can you help me fix this?

I have downloaded the game successfully but when I try to launch the game, a window opens up, clearly it's the game's window but; it's all black. I mean game is not running. It's only a black window and.. nothing happens after that.
I am lost, I tried changing my pc lang to Japanese as well, again, didn't work... :(
Of course I immediately started to play it and 7 hours later (1:00 am at night) find it difficult to stop. God, Nitro+Chiral is freaking amazing. Every time I play one of their games I think it's the best one yet. Lamento raises the bar even higher than Dramatical Murder (in my opinion). Love the story, love the characters, lovely and creative animation, two routes where I simply can't decided which one to do first... *Squee!*

I originally tried downloading the game through aarinfantasy forums but even after multiple tries and following different tutorials, I kept having an issue where the game wouldn't open at all when trying to use the downloads found there.

Follow it to full completion, even if you encounter the glitch at part 9. If the black screen error still occurs after completing the tutorial and making sure every patch is placed correctly. Try going to your system locale and turning it off Japanese locale then back to Japanese locale and restart your pc. It sounds dumb but that fixed it for me.
Having fun so far, although I was not ready for how old this game was.
my system locale is set to japan and everything else seems to be in working order other than that. I've already tried deleting and re-downloading it but nothing seems to work
