The secret feud between humans and vampires is now a thing of the past; Peace has been achieved under the beautiful vampire queen Cara’s rule.

However, there are protest against this peace between humans and vampire, chiefly coming from Cara’s uncle, Gram, who despises humans and treats humans as livestock. Gram’s prohibited business of human trafficking was brought to light, and under Cara’s hands he was purged. Narrowly escaping with his life, Gram swore revenge against Cara even when “bugs” were eating into his own skin. He plots his revenge and infiltrates Japan, the land where the peace between humans and vampires is to be sealed forevermore.

Tohno Shiki hears of a new series of murders in Misaki similar to the one’s that took place Tsukihime. Whilst searching for the murderer he meets Sion Eltnam Atlasia who initiates a fight with him, attempting to capture him. After fight she reveals that her reason for attempting to capture him is to get in contact with the “True Ancestor” (referring to Arcueid) so that she may acquire information on the “cure for vampirism”. Shiki then decides to help her with this task.

Tsukihime is a doujin visual novel, released in December 2001 by TYPE-MOON. It tells the story of Tohno Shiki, who since a life-threatening accident in his youth is cursed with the ability to see “lines” on everything around him. Lines along which objects can easily be cut.
Having lived with foster parents for seven years, Shiki is recalled to the household of his family. He had lost all contact with his family over this entire period, making it difficult for him to get used to the new situation. As he gradually learns more about his past, the situation becomes more and more unfamiliar and dangerous.
