I’ve decided on new two interchangeable filehost mirrors the site will be using. It’s going to be RapidShare and MediaFire.
Those companies have completely different business model than our previous hosts, and Rapidshare already won few big cases in court, so they should survive recent up-turn in filehosting sites.
In the next few days I’ll be uploading files to those hosts (Still gotta decide on filesize – MF allows only 200MB, while Rapidshare allows bigger files – need to decide whether to go with 200MB interchangeable mirrors ( like it used to be) or Fewer parts on rapidshare/more parts for mediafire, non-interchangeable mirrors.
Unfortunatelly, as filehosts will no longer be paying for downloads, covering site bandwidth costs ( 15-25k UV /90-130k Pageviews /350-450k hits daily), I’ll be adding ads on site to fund it. ( I’m actually considering donations as alternative, but I’d need to speak to lawyer about it first tho).
Torrents are also a possibility, but users would have to seed them – yesterday alone, you guys downloaded over 3 Terrabytes of games – no affordable host i know would let me use 90TB of bandwidth monthly.

Hey I see everyone had to change places to upload and download Visual Novels from online….Sorry to bother asking about this at this time but do anyone have “Maji de Watashi ni Koishinasai!” and english translations? I have searched everywhere for it but every download server I found with the game acts funny not letting me download it so I’m want to ask if any of you may already have it and can send copies or links for it to me on here…or by e-mail? Hello, i would recommend “Fileserv” and Deposite Files, these two are always the ones with having files hosted for the longest time. I remember at hotfile and filesonic after few month files diapear, but fileserve is almost alyws there. Mediafire is cool to, thanks for adding

I would have no problem with seeding torrents either. I actually prefer torrents since I can leave the client on all night
I’d recommend creating a private tracker here in Erogedownload myself, It may not be easy to maintain, but the bandwidth saving would be

ADminnn FIleserve are clearly banning other people download its content except the uploader

Answering your question (was that a question in the first place?) I think it should be better to retain the “200MB-interchangable files” style. I usually don’t find the urge to use both servers, but as we spanish say: es mejor prevenir que curar, better safe than sorry.
about mediafire…how about using adf.ly? I recognise many of download site (movies, games) use adf.ly for their mediafire mirrors..

It may be some kind of bug. I highly believe this is caused by that issue with the limitation of the comments engine the Admin mentioned.

Forest, Conquering the Queen, Katawa Shoujo… I downloaded only the first alone in less than 5 minutes, an the later two both at the same time from the same server in less than 10 minutes. RapidShare gives meaning to its name. LOL
i think Mediafire is still the best Admin , i wonder if it is as fast as in my country, fileserve doesn’t has full speed for my download here, but MF has, well IMO though
Hi admin, may I suggest Wupload? their service is really good too, and it will be even better if in used with a premium account, their speed can be as good as Filesonic back in its prime, cheers
someone(was it Admin?) mentioned something about wupload and filesonic, that the owner of wupload is a relative to filesonic’s…as we could see that filesonic has stopped the sharing functions…no one could guarantee it wouldn’t happen to wupload as well..
hey BeLLs, just for discussion sake, I’m curious as to why we don’t have Wupload as an additional mirror source, I’m not suggesting replacing Mediafire and/or Rapidshare links with Wupload. To put it another way, why can’t we have 3 mirror sources for instance. Even allow for the fact that Wupload may eventually close down, it would still be a big help to our friends here to have more choices at the moment. And say when the worst case scenario does happens to Wupload, we still have 2 mirrors that work (MF and RS). I remember reading somewhere that there are uploading sites where u can upload a file once and then just simply choose multiple hosts for that same file to appear on, no extra work, don’t have to upload it on the single hosts individually.
PS: Sorry, if the tone sounded like I was arguing or something
but no, I’m not. I’m just genuinely asking out of curiosity

Reason is simple – creating every mirror takes time. In total there’s about 1500 files that need to be uploaded, and then add links to 200+ posts.
I’d rather use that time to make torrents, which are more reliable than wupload that can close down at any moment.

well, the chances are a bit too high for wupload to shutdown its sharing service too…, I don’t know the details, but I think Admin mentioned it in one of this sea of comments..just click the ‘older comments’ link..
as long as the files on mediafire not deleted, I think it’ll serve as a mirror for itself..it allows unlimited multiple downloads at once with ability to resume download..
unless some country bans mediafire…I think we’re good…
multiupload.com offers that kind of service I think(the one you mentioned)…but personally, I think it lacks consistency..

Ahh…to late mediafire is already starting a great purge with my Girlfriend is the President’s link all gone from RS to MF had about only 2 parts left too *sigh* Since the files where named differently I suspect someone told us out *sigh again* depressed I really am right now
It would be more practical if you used a torrent-based format that could be set up as genre-besed (collection) downloads. A 20 GB torrent isn’t a problem!

based on my days here…usually, there will be a new game added when a game has translated(fully translated)…
whether it is a fantranslated patch..or official english version of the game..
but, I think Admin is going to completely reupload the old games first

Hey, Admin. I know you are busy with reuploading and whatnot, but are you likely to be adding Koisuru Otome to Shugo no Tate (VL Translation) when you’re done? I think they’re quite far on in TLing that now.
I do agree with Ushio, however I wonder if you are also going to reupload the untranslated games? I enjoy playing the games in the original text (difficult but fun and informative). I specifically mean Tomoyo After
