Himawari -The Sunflower-

Himawari -The Sunflower-

Himawari tells a tale of love, tragedy, and sacrifice played out on two stages – Earth, and outer space. Enter Hinata Youichi, a young high school student and sole survivor of a tragic spaceplane crash that robbed him of both his family and memories roughly two years prior. Amnesiac but steady in his new life, Youichi manages to find solace in surrounding himself with friends: Amamiya Ginga, the eccentric son of a world-famous astronaut, as well as the tomboyish, yet ultimately kind-hearted quasi-childhood friend, Saionji Asuka. Everything changes, however, when an unidentified object crash-lands in Youichi’s hometown and he meets Aries, a mysterious – and similarly amnesiac – young girl from outer space. Who is Aries? What happened on that fateful day two years ago? And what secrets lurk behind the accident that turned Youichi’s life upside down?

Explore Youichi’s struggle in coming to terms with his lost memories while an entirely different story is revealed to have taken place far beyond the clouds, in the chilling void of outer space. What starts out as a young man’s light-hearted high-school adventure soon takes a more serious turn as both Youichi and the reader are led to face a sobering revelation: that not everything is as it seems at first glance.

  1. WHAT KIND OF FUCKING IDIOT MADE UP THE CHARACTER KNOWN AS ARIES. I FUUUCKING HAAAATE ARIES.

I’m sick and tired of this “Oh it’s a cute innocent child” routine. It’s overdone, at least it’s overdone in this game.

Everytime she says “youichi” twice, it’s worse than fried-cancer-on-a-stick.

Her voice actress is terrible, because it’s not cute, it’s not sexy, it’s not beautiful sounding either. It’s just so-so.

The only good thing about this game so far is Aqua. But why the fuck, when Youichi is sitting in her lap, does he not move and just let her vomit on his face? What kind of ass-backwards game is this?

The character art is terrible, as they have the pointy-chin syndrome. The characters’ heads and faces are just not right.

Otherwise, the music is good, as it is in some visual novels.

  2. Hello! Thanks for the game!
I am finally able to play VNs again and I decided to try this one first. So far, so good… but can you please upload the fix for the audio? The bad looping is killing my ears and the mood of the story really bad.

    1. Start the game over again from the main menu, select aqua choices in the common route (may be optional), you’ll get a new option that didn’t exist before, pick the one that diverges from the original story.

  3. Plot seems to be interesting but I will skip this because it is from steam. Means a monolithic plot, mediocre art style, playtime max 10h, zero eroge and no replay value. I appreciate that steam gives young VN dev teams a chance to make money but I don’t have time for such “snacks” as this. I want the full meal with all extras when it comes to VNs. 40h+, multiple endings, childhood friends, mystery, pregnancy sex…

    1. Are you being serious? This was originally released in Japan as a doujin in 2007 for the PSP. It was remade for the Vita last year and this a translated port. This isn’t made by a “young dev team”. You also make these ridiculous assumptions because it it on Steam, yet it is also on MangaGamer. This is 30-50 hours according to VNDB (which you should probably check) and includes multiple endings, childhood friends, mystery and pregnancy.

      1. All he said, was that — the fact that this game is on Steam, provides evidence to show what sort of quality it can provide, judging based on the majority of games that are on steam are pretty much the butched off versions of the original games, or they are just handicapped creations made for an uncharted territory in the west. The Vita version of VNs, also tend to follow that trend as they get censored to heck.

Sure, it’s not an absolute remark — Clannad has no sexual content, but it’s great. But among many, when you see that a game was released on Steam, you can’t help but raise an eyebrow. As it is needlessly draconian when it comes to VN content.

        1. It’s an ignorant comparison to make. There are plenty of high quality VNs on Steam, and plenty of total garbage on Steam. There’s plenty of high-quality VNs available in Japan, and plenty of total garbage in Japan. Thanks to the selective nature of VN translation, I’d actually say the ratio of quality to garbage is much better on Steam than at a Sofmap store in Japan, and that’s even accounting for all the terrible OELVNs there.

    1. here is only one version to begin with, -the sunflower- was released in 2016 and is only 15+ there is no adult version.

      1. There’s only one ENGLISH release, yes. The official Mangagamer release is rated 15+. However, there are several Japanese releases of which the first (released in 2007) is rated 18+. Saying there is no “adult version” is deceptive. Just because it isn’t in English doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.

        1. The older release was called just “himawari”, it has outdated assets (scenes/art) this is ” the pebbel in the sky” version which was remade and doesn’t have adult version, so no, 18+ version for remastered version of the game doesn’t exist.

          1. Which would help out if you guys could just say that straight out, rather than being so enigmatic about it.
Cheers for the info, though. I love the flame war going around here.

      1. Release year of the English edition being 2016 has absolutely zero relevance to the question. The fact that this one is a port of the PS Vita version does. That also answers which age group it belongs to.

        You can thank me later.

        1. No one thanks you. The question had already been answered, so your comment was just you being a smart-ass. You aren’t important.

          1. Says the guy who had nothing to do with me or the problem at hand and only made an inflammatory post to troll me. No, the unimportant self-centered smartass is you.

And to further prove how hypocritical you are, you only provoked me, but not the guy who made a completely uninformative post like it’s the source of all knowledge, so go and move somewhere people actually care about what you say. You, after all, are not important.

          2. I love how much you’ve cried over this. And with such flawed logic. Thx for the laugh, buddy!

        2. I am sorry to tell you this but the release date matters. The version which was released earlier (07) was outdated and contained old assets. The “pebbel in the sky/sunflower” is newer version which was released on both PC and Vita with new assets however only the content below P18 was remade in this version and the fact that it was released on vita has nothing to do with it, they simply decided the game is better without the 18+ content.

You can check everything I wrote with a little bit of googling, cheers mate and “thanks”.

          1. They decided the game is better without the 18+ content.
            Lol.
That’s such a load of bullshit.
Mind you, I’m not saying that’s what they told people, but it’s still just bullshit.

A bit of hentai content never makes a game worse, at least as it isn’t one long fuckfeast for people to wank over.
