Ace Academy

Ace Academy

In the year 2049, mechanized robots commonly called GEAR were developed for military application. Since then, their versatile functionality has led them to not only become commonplace in commercial use, but also spawned an entire sports entertainment industry. The prevalent use and popularity of GEARs has created a new academic field known as “Cenorobotics”.

Due to unforeseeable circumstances, the protagonist finds himself transferring to ACE Academy, a premier school for Cenorobotics studies in Japan. He struggles to find a team willing to accept him and his outdated “American” GEAR to compete in the intramural tournament.

  1. Great game.

This main character is probably my favorite so far in a VN, because this is the first VN I played where the main character was OBSERVANT of what is going on and knew how to handle situations properly. This guy is mature. None of that “eh/um/ah” bullshit I see a lot in other VNs, where you would get annoyed by the MC’s inactivity at crucial moments. He has initiative and doesn’t let the world just drag him around.

The artstyle is not bad. The music is great. The battles are…not good, but eh, they aren’t crucial. Despite not having sex scenes, this VN was a breath of fresh air for me. Also, hearing english voice acting was such a nice change after a month of Japanese voice acting. 🙂

I recommend it to anyone who wants light and relaxing, but very enjoyable VN.

  2. There are problems with the music. The music that starts at the main screen keeps on playing over and over again throughout the whole time. Ending up playing multiple different music parts mixed together. The volume of the starting music can’t also be lowered or even muted, which makes it becoming quite anoying and (almost) impossible to hear the actual background music.

  3. There’s a Kaori: After Story now, with sex scenes and all apparently… any chance this game was popular enough to merit getting that?

  4. One problem i have with this game is the ending, the best way to describe it is the ending of Naruto Season 1 where the MC went out of the village to train. Then post pending “indefinently?”.

All the characterised build up and information are left with a soft cliff hanger thats just barly satisfied, i understand that all indigo game can’t have great ending, but its a bit of a shame.

  5. A good story driven game. The character are believable and lines are smooth. I can say that this is a light hearted and enjoyable.

First time player i suggests going for one character instead of hopping around.
